Our curriculum is underpinned by our MOTTO: Learn, Believe, Achieve Together
We set high standards of work and achieve this through providing a broad and balanced curriculum that also develops children's belief that they can achieve their highest aspiration, while working closely with parents and the whole community.
Our curriculum aims to promotes the academic as well as spiritual, moral, cultural and physical development of the children, preparing them for the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences of later life.
The curriculum at Birch Hill is designed to promote a cultural literacy that enriches the children's knowledge as well as contributing to an understanding of British values. What we teach responds to local, national and international events, creating valuable and meaningful learning experiences for children that connects them to their world and far beyond.
We plan engaging and exciting learning opportunities for our children, based on what we know they need to learn, what is relevant to them, the National Curriculum as well as their own ideas and interests.
We aim to teach children how to grow into positive, responsible people, who can work and co-operate with others, whilst developing knowledge, skills and attitudes to learning, in order that they achieve their true potential.
Curriculum Policy
Each curriculum subject outlines the intent of our curriculum. It also describes how we go about teaching the children our curriculum – its implementation. It goes on to say how we go about evaluating its impact so we can ensure that all our children are learning the right things at the right time and making exceptional progress in their learning across the full breadth of the curriculum.
